New Purchase Order!

Busy times ahead for me!  Over the next two months or so, I will be supplying yet another pretty well-known online boutique with my designs.  More to come on this as the weeks go by.  As a result, I have been very very occupied with cutting, trimming, measuring, and more cutting.

Thank goodness my parents live somewhat close by.  Thank goodness that this order came in just in time for school's spring break.  My kids have been with my mom for the past four days in order for me to get all the prep work done;  and what prep work it has been!

Wanna know what I have been doing the past three and a half days?  Watching movies on-demand and working.  That's it.  I think I ate a bowl of granola somewhere in between all of this.

Last night I was up until 2am doing all this pre-cutting.  It was last night that I realized something right at the part of  'Boogie Nights' when Rollergirl went all crazy with her skates and mauled that guy...

I realized that I bought 20 yards of the WRONG silver trim.  My original sample had teeny tiny, eentsy weentsy little crystals between all those tiny silver leaves.  The trim from LA did NOT.

After hours of measuring, cutting, double-checking, the damn trim has NO CRYSTALS...just a lonely void, a glittery little gouge of silver between all those little shiny leaves.  NO CRYSTALS!!!

I was actually more shocked that I didn't start swearing like a sailor at this point.  For about five minutes, I just stared at my sorry pile of non-sparkly leaf trim.  What do I do?  I know those, those, those...people that supply this stuff won't take it back.  So now I have to get all creative.

Tabled for now.  There, that's my creative streak shining through.  What do you think of that?

So instead, I started to cut felt.  And cut felt, aaaand cut felt.

Just a few of the bajillion flowers to make.  So pretty all bunched up together!

Here is a list of the movies I was able to watch in less than 24 hours while prepping for this large order:

-Mansfield Park
-The Hound of Baskervilles
-Boogie Nights
-Moonstruck
-Game Changer
-East is East (awesome movie if you have not seen it!)
-Grey Gardens (the documentary)

And the day is not over yet!  I'll probably watch another three movies before I retire for the night.

I did however manage to go for a bike ride this morning as well as a sunset walk around the neighborhood.  After sitting on my kids' hard little chairs in the playroom cutting away at felt, I had to get out and move.  So glad I did!

The tiny moon in the sky!

It's nice to get inspiration from your own surroundings.  These remind me of something a turn of the century bride would wear in her hair.  They are not orange blossoms, but still very pretty.

Spring has sprung!

See you next time!

My New Beautiful Photos for Twig and Sparrow!

What a happy day, happy happy day!  Got a nice email from Nicole to tell me that the photos from last weekend's shoot are ready and done!  I have already made a new look book, and now the next step will be to get them on my website.

Despite the cold and the rain, the photo shoot did go on.  Our lovely model Amanda did such a fantastic job;  so patient, so focused, so beautiful!  Georgia Syrengelas as always did a great and amazing job on hair and makeup, she even made me look decent (I stepped in and did a few model shots as well, for time's sake).  Her craft over time has gotten very intricate and she is very much in tune with what future brides and other girls are looking for.

It was so much fun doing pics with Nicole.  I found out that I am one of those people that can't stop giggling in front of the camera.  I don't really know why this happens with me.  Maybe because I can't see the photographer's entire face and they are still talking to me?  Who knows.  I am just very happy and thrilled that it all came out so beautiful.

Take a look!

Dreaming of Sunny Days on a Rainy Sunday

Hooray, it's raining cats and dogs out here! AND it's windy, cold, and blustery!!! I cannot believe that I actually took the car and hauled my two girls down to Long Beach for church today (big day for us, Greek Independence Day celebration). I honestly cannot remember the last time I attended church, but here we were this morning, in our Sunday best ready to brave the elements (I actually got water IN my shoes due to the downpour). Turns out we were completely late for all the services, but just in time to see the Greek school perform their poems and dances. My son went to NASCAR with Carey, despite rainy day forecast; they actually managed to see most of the race before it started to rain there. Moral of the story? Don't go driving 30 miles on three different freeways to get to a church when it hasn't poured down this hard in like 15 years.

On to what I really want to post: cute outfits!

Since I am still riding the bicycle wave, so to speak, these styles are all supposed to be bike-riding-friendly. To preface, I am not really the type of person that gets all into color and trends of the moment (well, maybe a few touches here and there, and I do emphasize the word few). I like to stick with neutral colors, simple shapes, and classic accessories.

I must also add the fact that I have three very young children and, for obvious reasons, my clothes are not for the delicate cycle or dry clean only. They must go from dropping kids off at school, to playdates, running errands, making crafts/baking and preparing dinners, all the while looking somewhat presentable. Here's another wonderful invention: aprons! I'll post a few lovely designs at the end of this post, just for giggles :)
